First visit to Science Central! ?
Before we left Pennsylvania last summer we did a family photo session in Harrisburg to celebrate my son’s first birthday and commemorate our time in the state. I never got around to posting the photos online so I was excited to see our photographer blogged them this week. Take a look!
Quote from Company of One ?
If you have an idea for starting a business that requires a lot of money, time, or resources, you’re mostly likely thinking too big. Your idea can be scaled down to the basics – do it now, do it on the cheap, and do it quickly – and then iterated upon. Start without automation or infrastructure or overhead. Start by helping one customer. Then another. This puts your focus on helping people immediately with what you’ve got available to you right now. Work on things like sales funnels and automation when it no longer makes sense to personalize your interactions with customers in surprising and delightful ways.
– Paul Jarvis, Company of One (pg. 22)
Another day, another Slack call, and it would seem Joel and I have started another company.
Loving the new King’s Kaleidoscope single The Rush – one song in three parts. ?
It’s February and my Penguins are in second place despite their rough start. Any NHL fans on Micro.blog? Maybe we can get the ? emoji added to the Discover section.
Last year, Grid & Arrow built a custom piece of software in Laravel to solve a specific customer’s email delivery problem. Today, we’re launching it to the world hoping to find a few new companies that would benefit from it.
If you’ve been trying to use email marketing platforms to upload a spreadsheet and send an email blast with mixed success, take a look at our landing page.
Good morning from the Polar Vortex! It’s -14° F with a windchill of -39° here in Fort Wayne.
My first time taking my son to the Fort Wayne Botanical Conservatory. I loved it – it felt like standing outside except without the cold and wind.
Looking forward to reading Company of One by Paul Jarvis after seeing it recommended by numerous people on Twitter. I was the first person to check it out from my local library. ?
I wrote the world’s tiniest WordPress plugin that converts all posts published with a format of “standard” to have a format of “status”. It might be useful to you if you’re feeding your Micro.blog with a WordPress feed.
I’ve been using 1Password for years, but this course from The Sweet Setup was still filled with lots of little things I didn’t know about.
I love having a wood burning fireplace at our new house. I got a wood splitter for Christmas and with all the wood on our property we’re set for years.
Back in the mountains of Pennsylvania for a couple of days. Having a little summit at Joel’s house to plan 2019 for Grid & Arrow.
The Oh Hellos Christmas Extravaganza
It’s a lot more effort to go to shows these days but I’m so glad we made the effort for this one.
We dropped Curren off for a night at a friend’s house, got a dog sitter, and booked at hotel in Indy for a night away just the two of us to ring in the Christmas season at the The Oh Hellos Christmas Extravaganza.
Here’s some photos the band tweeted out:

Curren was very much a fan of the house we rented for WordCamp being within walking distance of Jeni’s Ice Cream.
“Industrial Plant Induced Heavy Snow” is a new phrase in my vocabulary.
Gearing up for driving down to Nashville for WordCamp US next week. Anyone on Micro.blog going?
Curren is like Sonic the Hedgehog these days. Drop him down and he starts racing off as fast as he can. We had a blast at the park yesterday letting him go as far as he wanted.
